Use a $1,000 scanner-only limit

Is $1,000 for the scanner or the whole setup?

If you already own a suitable computer, budget for the scanner and the parts your package leaves out. If you need to buy a computer, phone or software as well, compare the full setup before choosing the scanner.

If you are deciding whether another device is necessary, compare phone capture and a dedicated scanner on the file your job needs.

The amount left beside each package is $1,000 minus its listed device price. It is money still available, not a quote for the rest of the kit. Prices are dated observations for the named US packages; check today's price, availability, shipping and tax with the seller.

Check the capture setup before the price

A computer is fine: check the software release, operating system, processor, graphics and memory against your actual machine. For a Mac, match the chip, memory and app before comparing packages. Original EINSTAR and MetroX requirements differ from those of EINSTAR 2 and MetroX Pro. For MetroX on a Mac, confirm the exact Revo Metro build, processor support and any translation software it needs.

You want to use a phone: check the named capture mode. POP 4 laser capture needs a computer; compatible phone capture applies to infrared modes. Before buying for an iPhone, confirm that the required iOS app is available for your model and capture mode. Creality's compatible phone workflows can require the optional Scan Bridge, which the Raptor and Otter base offers here exclude. Include the bridge and any additional phone in your budget, then check processing and export on that exact setup.

Check the POP 4 mode and phone requirements and Creality's mobile capture instructions for your chosen setup.

You need capture on the scanner itself: check that your chosen model documents that capture path. Compare capture setups in the full catalog or change that answer in the selector. A wireless link to a computer is a different setup.

Comparing the two Revopoint generations? Use the original MetroX versus MetroX Pro comparison to check the laser modes, Mac requirements and same-part demonstration.

Add the missing cost lines

  1. Computer or phone: enter zero only when you already own a compatible device or the selected workflow does not need an additional one.
  2. Accessories and preparation: check the included cables, turntable, markers, spray and any model-specific bridge. Confirm what you may apply to your own part.
  3. Software: distinguish capture and mesh processing from the CAD reconstruction or editing package you need. Ask for the exact license term and required export format.
  4. Delivery and ownership: add shipping, applicable tax, training, service and the first year's preparation supplies as relevant to your work.

Use Plan this kit beside a package to open its model in the itemized cost worksheet. Choose whether to use a dated listing or your own quote there. Unpriced lines stay unknown until you fill them.

Choose the file you need to finish

For a printable mesh, ask for a file from your representative object, check its scale and inspect it in your slicer. Use the scan repair guide if holes, double surfaces or an unexpected size appear.

For editable CAD, agree on the receiving program and an actual edit, such as changing a hole diameter. A scanner-package price leaves reconstruction software and work to be priced separately. The scan-to-CAD guide distinguishes a mesh reference, a solid edit and a native parametric model.

For a feature that must fit another part, write its dimension and pass rule before the demonstration. Compare the exported result with that rule. Use the accuracy guide to distinguish a laboratory accuracy claim from point spacing and the finished part's dimensions.

How we work

How we compare scanners

Official manuals, technical sheets and current product pages lead the evidence hierarchy. Missing fields stay visible as questions for the vendor.

  1. Define the object, output and acceptance method.
  2. Record calibration, software, workstation and operator.
  3. Compare the final deliverable under the same protocol.
  4. Keep failed scans and document every manual correction.

Published specifications describe manufacturer claims. A buyer test with your own object remains the final decision step.
